Zusammenfassung
Als durch empirische Forschung gut gesichert kann gelten, daß elterliches Erziehungsverhalten einen erheblichen Einfluß auf die Entwicklung von Kindern ausübt (Maccoby & Martin 1983). Unklar ist bislang aber weitestgehend, warum sich Eltemverhalten von Familie zu Familie erheblich unterscheidet. Eine eingehende Problematisierung dieser Fragestellung wurde erstmals von Belsky (1984) vorgelegt, der ein theoretisches Modell der Determinanten elterlichen Verhaltens entwickelte. Eine zentrale Funktion in Belskys Modell nimmt die elterliche Ehebeziehung ein, die Belsky als entscheidende Quelle von Streß versus Unterstützung für elterliches Funktionieren betrachtet. Obgleich auch die Familientherapie schon seit langem auf die besondere Bedeutung der Qualität von Ehebeziehungen fur die Eltem-Kind- Beziehung aufmerksam macht (z.B. Satir 1964; Promo 1975), existiert empirische Forschung zum Zusammenhang von Ehequalitat und Eltem-Kind- Beziehung erst seit den 80er Jahren. Die Mehrzahl der diesbezüglichen Befunde brachte denn auch das Ergebnis, daß eine hohe Ehequalitat mit einem entwicklungsfSrderlichenEltemverhalten einhergeht (Goldberg 1990; Howes & Markman 1989).
