Zusammenfassung
Der Aufbau und die dauerhafte Erhaltung von Geschäftsbeziehungen mit Kunden sind im Dienstleistungssektor von besonderer Bedeutung für den Unternehmenserfolg. Stabile Geschäftsbeziehungen stellen u.a. eine Möglichkeit für Dienstleister dar, die negativen Konsequenzen von Qualitätsschwankungen, die aufgrund des immateriellen und individuellen Charakters von Dienstleistungen nur begrenzt vermeidbar sind, zu reduzieren. Geschäftsbeziehungen ermöglichen dem Dienstleistungsanbieter zudem eine längerfristige Planung, die das besonders bei personalintensiven Dienstleistungen stark ausgeprägte Problem fehlender Kapazitätsspielräume bei schwankender Nachfrage entkräften kann. Ausdruck dieser besonderen Stellung von Geschäftsbeziehungen im Dienstleistungsbereich ist u.a. die frühe Thematisierung des Beziehungsmarketingkonzeptes in der Dienstleistungsliteratur (z.B. Berry 1983; Grönroos/Gummesson 1985), welche im übrigen auch die Stellung der Dienstleistungsforschung im Rahmen der allgemeinen Marketingwissenschaft positiv beeinflußt hat (Brown 1997).
