Zusammenfassung

Der Begriff der Labour Process Debate (LPD) hat sich seit einigen Jahren herausgebildet und faßt locker eine angelsächsiche Diskussion über Struktur und Entwicklung des Arbeitsprozesses zusammen. Die LPD hat natürlich keine harten Abgrenzungen gegenüber anderen wissenschaftlichen Diskussionen über die Arbeitswelt, weist aber im Kern einige profilierende Merkmale auf, die auch ihre Attraktivität gegenüber vielen herkömmlichen industriesoziologischen Fragestellungen ausmachen. Dazu zähle ich:

  • eine marxistische Grundorientierung, die sich aber im wachsenden Maße von den empirischen und theoretischen Begrenzungen der Klassiker freimacht,

  • ein ausgeprägtes Interesse an der Herausarbeitung historischer Großtrends der kapitalistischen Organisation von Arbeitsprozessen (und an einem entsprechenden Abstraktionsniveau),

  • die Orientierung an dem politischen Gehalt der spezifischen Organisation von Arbeitsprozessen und damit an Kategorien wie Macht, Herrschaft und Kontrolle.

  • den disziplinübergreifenden Diskurs, an dem sich Historiker, Soziologen, Politologen und Ökonomen beteiligen.
