Zusammenfassung

Wenn man Talcott Parsons’ Analyse des amerikanischen Universitätssystems aus den frühen siebziger Jahren wieder liest (Parsons/Platt 1973), beschleichen einen seltsame Gefühle. Auf der einen Seite klingt vieles relativ altmodisch — und das war es vermutlich sogar schon damals. Auf der anderen Seite stößt man auf weitsichtige Beobachtungen und Ideen, die nach wie vor und vielleicht gerade heute bedeutsam sind, um bestimmte Entwicklungen und Spannungen zu verstehen, die seitdem in den Hochschulsystemen vieler westlicher Länder zur vollen Entfaltung gelangt sind.
