Abstract
Cement eczema is of an irritant and allergic nature. Water-soluble hexavalent chromate, Cr(VI), in the cement causes chromium allergy that may cause the development of allergic cement eczema. The medical course of allergic cement eczema is often of a chronic nature. The development of allergic cement eczema may be prevented by adding ferrous sulfate to the cement, with ferrous sulfate reducing the highly water-soluble allergenic Cr(VI) to Cr(III) that has a lower solubility.
