Abstract
The function of memory is not simply to recall the past but also to form and update models of our experiences that help us navigate the complexities of the social world. In the present chapter, we review behavioral, neuroimaging, and neuropsychological evidence that suggest an important role for memory—and the hippocampus—in social cognition.
