Introduction

Globally, the absence of bureaucracy in the practice of citizen journalism has generated many criticisms about the influence of citizen journalism on professional journalism and media governance in general. Citizen journalism (CJ) “refers to the participation of ordinary citizens in news gathering and reporting” (Oberiri 2016, 2).
