Abstract
Intraoperative examination of testicular nodules by frozen section was rarely used in the past because of the inherent diagnostic uncertainty [1, 2]. In recent years, it has been more widely used for the diagnosis of small nodules detected by ultrasonography. A diagnostic issue the pathologist is less frequently asked to resolve by frozen section is the assessment of resection margins in partial tumor resection. Further reasons for frozen section examination are generally related to partial orchiectomies performed in monorchid individuals: urologists typically ask for a conservative approach when there are synchronous bilateral germ cell tumors or a unilateral germ cell tumor with a history of contralateral orchiectomy for germ cell tumor.
