Abstract
Feeding is essential to an individual’s life and has an impact on multiple domains. Feeding is imperative for normal growth and pubertal development in the child and for acquisition of a healthy nutritional state in all individuals. Feeding is also an integral component in socialization. Early childhood is a critical time for development of healthy normal feeding skills which persist through a lifetime. Developmental disabilities can hinder the acquisition of feeding skills, impair nutritional health and threaten social development. An attentive multidisciplinary team can provide guidance to the individual and the family to optimize feeding experiences and nutritional health.
