Abstract
The use of mathematical models to explain biological processes is one of the branches of system biology more exploited today. The Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Higher Polytechnic Institute Jose Antonio Echeverria (CUJAE) has been work in this area, deriving various projects and themes of investigation. One of the models utilized is the Cellular Potts Model and the software CompuCell3D, which allow the development of several simulations with a biological approach of the processes that happen in a cell. The following article exposes the experiences in the use of the CompuCell3D in the Biomedical Engineering career resulting in the development of three works of thesis in the following topics: distraction osteogenesis, cell interactions in the aortic abdominal aneurysm and growth of solid tumors.
