Abstract

The chapter describes the theoretical fundamentals for the final drying of ammonium nitrate granules with the nanoporous structure in multistage shelf units. The computer modeling of the hydrodynamic conditions for the final drying of porous ammonium nitrate (PAN) is demonstrated. The moisture content changing process in the disperse material and a drying agent in the shelf dryer’s workspace during the final drying of PAN is theoretically described. This work is also aimed to develop the mathematical model, which determines the moisture characteristics of the disperse material (PAN) and the drying agent, and to perform the optimization calculation, adjusted for construction peculiarities of the shelves. Based on the model, the calculated data of the moisture field in the disperse material and the drying agent are obtained. The results of studying the nanoporous structure morphology in PAN granules obtained in different periods of the drying process in a gravitational shelf device are presented.
