Abstract

SARS-CoV-2 is a new virus that has put most of the world on alert, unleashing a health crisis that requires taking security measures to stop the spread of the pandemic. Among the main measures is the continuous use of hand disinfectant, for this reason it is important to develop mechanisms to speed up this process without exposing someone's health. This paper presents a SCARA (Selective Compliant Articulated Robot Arm) to apply hand disinfectant gel through pre-programmed positions that are activated with the presence of the user. The robot has been designed in a 3D environment for subsequent fabrication and installation using Arduino technology. Additionally, a mobile application is developed that allows to visualize the sensor data and remotely control the desired positions. The system is evaluated at the front door of a real commercial establishment, applying a usability test to the attendees. The results present the robot in operation and the usability test data, obtaining satisfactory results of the implemented prototype.
