Abstract
Simulation for emergency nurses can take many forms. At the most basic level, courses such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) utilize various simulation modalities. Because of this exposure, emergency nurses are often familiar with simulation-based education. However, simulation can be used for much more than just BLS and ACLS. Trainings related to triage, trauma team management, and emergency response are just some of the additional educational opportunities emergency nurses may be exposed to through simulation-based education. Beyond education, simulation can also be used for process improvement strategies in the emergency setting, further impacting the emergency nurse. To facilitate education using simulation modalities, hospital administration must support dedicating the resources, especially the staff time, to these important activities.
