Technique in PCL reconstruction: Mini posterior approach

  • Chapter
The Knee Joint

Abstract

This technique of minimal invasive surgical (MIS) approach was developed in an anatomic study performed in 20 cadaveric knees. This MIS approach eliminates section or dissection of any posterior anatomical structures in the popliteal region including the medial gastrocnemius muscle (MGM) and popliteus muscle. Since 2002, the authors have been used this surgical approach that allows a limited soft tissue dissection and adequate visualization of the posterior area of the knee.
