Abstract
The forensic autopsy plays a key role in the determination of the cause and manner of death. Many protocols exist for the performance of a hospital-based autopsy. Standardization allows for a comprehensive and systematic approach. The forensic autopsy, however, provides its own unique issues. The individuality of the case may dictate deviation from standard protocols. This chapter focuses on the standard format for the infant autopsy that can be modified as needed, based on the decedent’s age and the circumstances surrounding the decedent’s death.
