Cyclosporin A

Pharmacology and Therapeutic Use in Autoimmune Diseases

  • Chapter
Immunopharmacology in Autoimmune Diseases and Transplantation

Abstract

Cyclosporin A (CyA, Sandimmun®, Sandoz) is a potent immunosuppressive agent. First trials in human transplantation started in 1978, and since that time very wide experience has been gained in its use (Beveridge, 1986). It is now considered a reference treatment, especially for liver and heart transplantation.
