Monitoring Cloud-Native Applications

Abstract

Grafana is a popular open source time-series data query, visualization, and alerting tool which was developed by Torkel Ödegaard in 2014. It has a data source model which is highly pluggable and supports multiple time-series–based data sources like Prometheus, InfluxDB, and OpenTSDB as well as SQL databases like MySQL and Postgres. Independent of where the data is stored, it allows you to query the data using query editor, visualize it using dashboards, and alert on it using the alerting function.
