Pro- and Anti-Inflammatory Cytokines in Primary Systemic Vasculitis

  • Chapter
ANCA-Associated Vasculitides

Summary

The expression of cytokines that are potentially involved in the pathogenesis of vasculitis was studied in patients with primary systemic vasculitis (PSV). In extension of earlier reports, we detected an overexpression of transforming growth factor B (TGFB), interleukin 6 (IL6), and interleukin 8 (IL8), indicating that the whole cytokine cascade is activated to a significant extent in PSV.
