Introduction to Glass Science

Abstract

In order to undertake a study of the factors involved in the manufacture of a glass-to-metal seal it is necessary to define carefully the specific type of product to be considered. In general such a seal constitutes an electrical insulation between two or more metallic elements while at the same time forming part of an enclosure or shield, hermetically shielding some electronic component from the surrounding environment.
