Abstract

As we mentioned earlier, the nature of the stresses at the boundary between the tool tip and abrasive suspension depends on the elastic properties of the load (abrasive suspension and machined surface), the power delivered to the transducer, and the static force. We can demonstrate this fact in the following simple example (Fig. 19). Suppose that the tool tip vibrates according to the law ξ (t) = ξ m, sin wt where ξ m is the amplitide and ω is the frequency of the vibrations. Let us assume that at some time t1 the tool tip comes into contact with a spring of stiffness k attached to a sufficiently massive base.
