Abstract
Parathyroid hormone (PTH) has been shown to cause an increase in the fraction of activated osteocytes, to induce periosteocytic osteolysis, to produce histochemical changes in osteocytes and to affect osteocyte ultrastructure (1,2,3). Analogous findings have been observed in osteocytes of patients suffering from primary or secondary hyperparathyroidism (4,5,6,7).
