Purine and Pyrimidine Metabolism in Man VI

Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 253A))

Abstract

In rapidly growing and metabolically highly active tissues, such as those of the human feto-placental unit, large amounts of purine nucleotides are required. The role of the placenta in the feto-placental purine metabolism as well as the details of placental, and especially trophoblastic, purine metabolism, and their possible changes with gestation are, however, largely unknown.
