Abstract
Attachment, affectional bond, emotional tie: when describing the relationship of a young child to his or her major caregiver, we tend to fall back on the same metaphor. Although it has been notoriously difficult to define this bond in behavioral terms, there are obviously aspects of caregiver-infant interactions which lead to the impression that the two partners are, in some way, linked by psychological processes.
