Abstract
Reflection photometry is a useful tool to study in vivo kinetic changes of hemoglobin, myoglobin, and the cytochromes. The problem of quantifying reflection spectra is still not satisfactorily solved. To compare the validity and the limits of different methods to analyze optical spectra (dual wavelength evaluation, reference spectra method, two-flux evaluation method of multicomponent systems), calculations were performed on simulated reflection spectra. The simulation of the reflection spectra was carried out, using the two-flux theory of Kubelka and Munk (1931), (Kubelka 1948, 1954).
