Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 72))

Abstract

A number of observations has been made in the past years on the calcium-stimulated, energy-independent base-exchange reaction for phospholipid biosynthesis, mostly in non-nervous tissues (l). The enzymic reaction has been more recently demonstrated also in nervous tissue and its structures and subcellular fractions (l–4). The present report describes some properties and physiological significance of the system.
