Abstract
This paper gives the procedures and initial results from a study of the effect of pressure on dielectric relaxation parameters for crystalline polymers. Knowledge of pressure dependence is important since it makes possible the separation of volume and temperature effects. This separation cannot be done by varying temperature alone. The choice of crystalline polymers for the study was made because the structure of the crystal is better known that that of the liquid or glass states and because considerable dielectric pressure data already exist for amorphous polymers. Finally, a dynamical description of the relaxation process is given and the relaxation behavior is described in terms of bulk thermodynamic properties.
