Control of Coffee Diseases

  • Chapter
Coffee

Abstract

Coffee diseases are caused by pathogenic microfungi and occasionally by bacteria and some viruses; they affect different plant organs resulting in debility, deformity and sometimes the death of the whole plant. Appropriate measures are often necessary to prevent diseases developing to a level that would reduce the productivity or quality of the crop. The need to undertake disease control depends upon the effects of particular diseases and for this purpose they can conveniently be grouped according to the part of the coffee plant they attack.
