Lipid Peroxides in Hepatic, Gastrointestinal, and Pancreatic Diseases

Abstract

Although the liver, stomach, intestine, and pancreas are classified in the same group, i.e., digestive organs, their functions are largely different from each other. In spite of such differences, it seems that injury to these organs could be commonly provoked by lipid peroxidation with a burst of free radical production in situ. Therefore, administration of antioxidants would be useful treatment and even prophylactic for such injury. Some topics related to these problems are described.
