Calcium Signaling: Downstream Components in Plants

  • Chapter
Signal Transduction in Plants

Abstract

Calcium ions are involved in coupling a large number of extra-cellular stimuli to a variety of physiological processes in eukaryotes. At the cellular level Ca2+ enables the cells to communicate with the exterior milieu by acting as a major intracellular second messenger.
