Abstract

Prevention of the passage of spermatozoa from the testes to the outside by interruption of the v asa de ferentia ha s 1 ong b een p racticed a s a means of restricting fertility in males. Obstruction of the vas deferens by ligation, cauterization, or other means, usually accompanied by division of the duct is generally known by the misnomer of vasectomy, even though the amount of vas deferens, if any, actually removed is usually limited to a few mm.
