Handbook of Asian American Health

Abstract

Access to health care is a significant challenge for many Asian Americans who face a myriad of barriers in their attempt to receive care. In the United States alone, 17% of Asian Americans are uninsured. Unfortunately, research in this area of health care access is limited. The chapter presents an overview of the current research in this field and barriers affecting access to care, followed by an examination on how the current health care reform bill, instituted by President Obama, will affect overall access to care for Asian Americans, and directions for future research
