Abstract
A specific receptor for androgens is present in the tubular compartment of the testis. In contrast to androgen binding protein (ABP) this receptor protein is located intracellularly, and can be demonstrated both in cytoplasmic and nuclear fractions (1–3). In mature rats the steroid bound by this receptor is mainly testosterone (1,2) and in immature rats both dihydrotestosterone and testosterone are bound (3).
