Abstract
Four-hundred and fourteen cases of human cancers in various clinical situations are reported. Randomized studies in advanced breast cancer and lung cancer, comparing combination chemotherapy with the same chemotherapy and weekly subcutaneous injections of Corynebacterium parvum, showed a significant superiority of the latter procedure in survival and resistance to bone-marrow depression and infections. Some uncontrolled studies showed an indication of synergism between C. parvum and BCG and a local effect of C. parvum injected intratumorally. Recent studies of C. parvum injected intravenously each day in a dose of 4 mg and without chemotherapy showed very promising and intriguing results in various disseminated cancers. Four good partial regressions were registered out of 12 patients. Problems relative to immune status and optimal conditions for nonspecific immune stimulation are discussed.
