Ionization of Polarized Alkali Atoms by Polarized Electrons

  • Chapter
Coherence and Correlation in Atomic Collisions

Abstract

Crossed beams of polarized electrons and polarized alkali atoms have been used to measure the ratio of the interference cross section to the total cross section for electron impact ionization of K and Na. For K our results extend from 6 to 80 e V. For Na we have at present only one preliminary result at 9.3 eV.
