Diffraction Impulse Response of Non-Planar Transducers

Acoustical Imaging

Part of the book series: Acoustical Imaging ((ACIM,volume 14))

Abstract

Optimisation of ultrasonic beams can be achieved by the geometrical study of finite apertures. This approach is consistent with the theory of linear and time invariant systems, the wave equation being linear and time invariant for a constant sound velocity, and leads to the concept of diffraction impulse response, characteristic of the active surface of the transducer.
