Lipids and Proteins of Lipoproteins in Human Atherosclerosis

  • Chapter
Lipid Metabolism and Its Pathology

Abstract

Few papers in recent years have been devoted to the study of the chemical composition of lipoproteins in human atherosclerosis (Lewis et al. 1974, Carlson and Ericsson 1975, Avogaro et al. 1977) Moreover some studies have ascertained relevant variations in the plasma levels of some of the main apolipoproteins, namely ApoA-I, apoA-II and apoB (Berg et al. 1976, Albers et al. 1976, Avogaro et al. 1978, Bradby at al. 1978). This paper offers new data in this field which have been obtained through a study performed in a large population of survivors of myocardial infarction.
