Experimental and numerical dosimetry

  • Chapter
Mobile Communications Safety

Part of the book series: Telecommunications Technology & Applications Series ((TTAP))

Abstract

The objective of this chapter is to document the state of the art of experimental and numerical dosimetry with emphasis on those aspects relevant to mobile communications. This includes the evaluation of the suitability of various tools developed for dosimetry in the frequency range of mobile communications (40 MHz – 6 GHz). Since the suitability of a tool is here determined by the physical requirements defined by the specific applications, the dose rate, the energy absorption mechanism and the two major application areas are discussed first.
