Part of the book series: Applied Clinical Psychology ((NSSB))

Abstract

Problems of social conduct are widespread among children and adolescents. These problems include both aggressive and nonaggressive violations of the norms, rules, and laws of acceptable social behavior. When the violations become persistent and of a bothersome magnitude, a number of treatment and management options are available. For example, children may be referred to special education programs, may be treated in community-mental-health clinics, may be treated in inpatient public or private mental hospitals, may be referred to juvenile court, or may be placed in correctional institutions.
