Abstract
The described repeated batch mode combines the advantages of fed batch and perfusion processes. Harvesting is performed in preset intervals by a continuous-flow centrifuge (Viafuge from Carr, Pneumatic Scale INC:). The cells can be returned into the fermenter without loss of viability. The harvested medium is replaced by pre-heated fresh medium and the cell concentration for re-inoculation can be readjusted to the requested level
