Abstract
This is what happens in the generation of the bees according to tradition and to the facts known so far. But we have not sufficient observations on this matter. Should they become available, we should trust more the observations than the theory, and we should hold good the latter only if facts support it. (Aristotle, De gen. Anim., III, 760, b)
