Abstract

Tailoring the properties of extracellular matrix hydrogels by conjugating with synthetic polymers is an emerging strategy for designing extracellular matrix-based hybrid hydrogels. This protocol provides a method for preparing a hydrogel formulation of porcine cholecystic extracellular matrix for tissue engineering applications. Here, poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate, a synthetic polymer, was conjugated with porcine cholecystic extracellular matrix, and a biosynthetic hydrogel was prepared to have tunable physico-mechanical properties, as required for tissue engineering.
