Mukositis und Stomatitis gehören zu den häufigen und besonders belastenden Nebenwirkungen einer Chemo-, Immun- oder Strahlentherapie. Sie können zu einer ausgeprägten Beeinträchtigung der Befindlichkeit und Lebensqualität des Patiente führen und verschlechtern die Compliance bei der Tumorbehandlung.
