Conclusion
Stabilizing these complex injuries about the elbow adequately to initiate early range-of-motion exercises and providing careful follow-up will maximize the functional recovery of the elbow and minimize complications. The use of internal and external fixation devices, cast braces, hinged braces, and continuous passive motion machines may be indicated in specific cases. The recent trend of more aggressive treatment for these complex injuries has provided improved function and more predictable outcomes than prolonged cast treatment or neglect.
