Optimization of Copper Wire Tinning for the Production of Solar Modules

Abstract

The copper wire tinning technology for the production of solar modules is considered. The optimal parameters—tinning temperature, linear speed, etc.—are revealed. It is established that the best characteristics are achieved when cleaning the wire using electrochemical degreasing. The possibility of using wire as an electrode in the production of solar modules using the SmartWire Connection Technology is experimentally studied. Tests of the reliability of soldering joints under the influence of high humidity and high temperature, as well as during thermal cycling, are carried out. To control tinned wire samples, mechanical and electrical parameters are measured, such as coating thickness, tensile strength, elongation, electrical resistivity, and dc resistance. The tests have confirmed that, in terms of mechanical and electrical parameters, the POIN-52 solder-coated wire meets the requirements for electrodes in the production of solar modules, with climatic tests also showing a high degree of reliability.
