Electric brakes for fast electric passenger trains

Abstract

The efficiency of both types of electric braking for electric trains for transporting passengers, including for high-speed trains, is shown. We considered two main variants of rheostat brakes that use independent excitation of the traction motor, which provides good leveling properties and a high coefficient of friction of wheels with electric rails. Effectiveness was provided for a rheostat brake with pulse regulation. It is advisable to manufacture passenger trains of alternating current with recuperative braking, because it does not complicate electrical equipment and the use of rheostat brakes via installation of additional power equipment (power resistors).
