Abstract.

The correlation of the rotational structure of the \( K^{\pi}=2^{+}\)\( \gamma\)-bands, with the \( K^{\pi}=0^{+}\) ground bands, of the even-Z even-N atomic nuclei of the mid mass region \( (A=140 - 200)\) is reviewed from the global view point. The variation of the energy level pattern with N and Z in the major shell (\( Z=50 - 82\), \( N=82 - 126\)) is illustrated quadrant-wise, through the moment of inertia plots. The correlations are viewed in terms of the dynamic symmetries of the Interacting Boson Model-1. The average value of the power index of the single term power law of level energies in the \( \gamma\)-band is compared with the ground band. Its variation with neutron number N is displayed for Dy, Er and Os isotopic chains. The effect of the beta stability line across the quadrants is pointed out. Also the variation of the \( \gamma\)-band head energy \( E(2_{\gamma})\) with N and Z and its correlation with ground and \( \beta\)-band is analyzed.
