Effects of Luna® Tranquility Fungicide on Arthropod Pests and Predatory Mites in Protected Grounds

Abstract

The effect of Luna® Tranquility fungicide on some pests of greenhouse crops (green peach aphid, two-spotted spider mite, greenhouse whitefly) and predatory mites (Phytoseiulus persimilis, Amblyseius swirskii, Neoseiulus cucumeris) was studied. It was found that this fungicide possessed a complex phytosanitary action, which included not only fungicidal activity but also high acaricidal and aphicidal properties. When this polyfunctional fungicide is used against a number of greenhouse crop diseases (gray rot, powdery mildew, alternariosis), no additional treatments against mites or aphids present on the crops are needed. However, in case of recolonization of plants with the two-spotted spider mite, predatory Phytoseiulus mites should be released not earlier than 10 days after fungicide treatment. Since Luna Tranquility does not significantly affect the development of the greenhouse whitefly, predatory Amblyseius mites should be used against this pest 7 days after fungicide treatment.
