Abstract
In the United States, 36 percent of all energy is consumed in industrial processes and another 16 percent is consumed in commercial buildings. There is an opportunity to more than halve this consumption, using existing technology. This will be an important step, which will also be relatively easy to achieve. It will be necessary in order to reduce the need for new electricity-generating capacity. One of the main activities that will be needed in order to achieve this transformation will be a large-scale training and information program, to spread information about savings opportunities, actions and financing opportunities to companies of all kinds.
