Abstract
CARDIAC glycosides potentiate the contraction of cardiac muscle, but not skeletal muscle1. This difference may be a matter of cell penetration rather than muscular mechanism: to investigate this point we have microinjected ouabain into crab skeletal muscle fibres. In this article we report that ouabain, when applied intracellularly, potentiates the contraction of skeletal muscle.
