Abstract
The Redcoat squirrelfish Sargocentron rubrum is reported for the first time from the Sea of Marmara. The record is based on one female and two male specimens caught off the north-western coast of the Sea of Marmara. Morphometric and meristic data of the landed specimens are submitted. Possible reasons for its occurrence in the Sea of Marmara are discussed.
